Girls A sanitary pad Project

LINDA SAVE A GIRL CHILD PROJECT

Dear Lawrence Young Foundation Friends.

While the entire world has been turned upside down by COVID-19, it’s very difficult for a Remote Village girl child of Katwe, kayanja, katungulu, kasenyi, kikorongo, Hamukungu, kahendero, Omuruti, Nyakatonzi, Katojo and Rwehingo,to access the necessary sanitary Towels for their health needs. However, Lawrence Young Foundation needs your help more than ever towards our COVID-19 LINDA-Girl child a sanitary Towel Project Relief Fund. Today, we kindly request kind-hearted sponsors, Donor and Volunteer to join us and find our vulnerable young girls at ST. Peters Church of Uganda nursery and Primary School a chance to stay at School!

These girls will be married off as soon as their first Periods are seen because parents won`t have money to provide them with Pads, soap for washing clothes. Marrying them off at a young age (11-12 years) seems an easier solution because they are seen as grownups. These young girls take school as a safe haven from things like early childhood Marriages, Sex exploitation, Childhood labour, drug abuse, early pregnancies and many more. With Help from Sponsors and Donors, we can all together change the lives of these young girls thus leaving a legacy.

Below is what our COVID-19 LINDA-Girl child a sanitary Towel Project Relief Fund is all about and what’s happening in Uganda and Katwe-Village.

What Lawrence Young Foundation’s COVID-19 LINDA-Girl child a Towel Project Relief Fund will do?

  1. Provide 186 Young Girls with Sanitary Towel packages for a year:  This will give the young girls of age 12-13 years a chance to know that they won’t be seen as grownups ready for marriage but rather children because they are not a burden to the parents hence staying in School.
  • Community Sensitisation: These funds will help us sensitize the community that having periods for these young children does not mean they are ready for marriage because their bodies are still young and weak so let’s prevent early marriages , early pregnancies, deaths at child birth, running off to streets and prostitution.
  • Encourage young School dropout girls to come back into full time education. Some orphans because they have no such Sanitary towels, they drop out of schools to prevent being laughed at. With this project, we will encourage them to come back to school because they will be having all the necessary requirements and no shame.
